Getting to Know Author Claire Fogel~
Born in New York City (Queens), I’ve lived in southern California for 42 years and met my husband here 24 years ago. We both have grown daughters, and a total of three grandsons.
I started my business career in the 1960’s as a secretary in New York City, retiring from Sanyo as a Marketing Analyst several years ago. I did business writing for forty years, but didn’t attempt writing fiction until three years ago.
Now I’m sorry I didn’t start sooner!
I’ve always loved to read. As a result, I now have thousands of book on my shelves and was forced to switch to Ebooks because of lack of space! I’ve read all genres, Romance, SciFi, Historical Fiction, Mysteries, and discovered Young Adult fiction several years ago. YA/Teen fiction really resonated with me, so that’s what I write. I’m fascinated by the challenges we’ve all had to deal with in our teens, especially just learning who we are and what we believe in, and I feel those years are hugely significant as we’re growing up. In my books I try to show the opportunities available to young adults, especially the ones they’re probably not aware of. Mainly because of all the opportunities I never realized I had! I want teens and young adults to understand that their future is virtually unlimited, something I was never really aware of when I was young.
My husband and I are retired from the business world now, and we finally have time to pursue the things we love most; my husband is a musician, and I am finally an author.
“Blackthorne Forest” and “Elvenwood,” Book 2 of the Blackthorne Forest series.
“Deep inside vast, beautiful Blackthorne Forest, there is a well-hidden village that has been there for hundreds of years. Kept secret from the human world, this 18th century village is home to a small community of Elves, a race of tall, beautiful beings who predate recorded history.
Until she was sixteen, Cara had never met her father, unaware of her magical heritage. But discovering her father’s identity has been a mixed blessing. Although her father, an Elven Prince loves her dearly, he has enemies and Cara has become a target. After suffering a traumatic kidnapping, Cara vows she will never be a victim again. Under her father’s watchful eye, the young girl learns to master the lethal defensive skills at which the Elves excel, while her handsome bodyguard helps her understand the difference between friendship and love.”
I have a website: www.clairefogel.com where my readers can check up on what I’m working on now. The Blackthorne Forest series will continue with two more books; book #3 will be titled, “Dragon’s Song,” and I expect to publish it in 2016.
