In my latest Thriller, The Good Teacher, Daniella Reyes is a strong empath and a highly sensitive young woman. She struggles with toxic relationships throughout her life. You’d think being an empath she’d be tuned in and able to pick up the negative energies of those who cause her suffering.
She’s been a victim of child abuse and now as a grown adult has trusted a few that are in her life who turn out to be the very ones who are out to destroy her.
If you are an empath you know well how these so called, ‘toxic people’ can creep into our lives. It’s not that we have let our guard down, but it is inadvertently part of our mission, so we’ve been told. Empaths can be found in professional fields such as teachers, health care, social work, charity and many more where one deals with those in need. And not every needy soul is toxic.
Yes, ‘Psychic Vampires’ and other needy souls are drawn to certain types of empaths. It’s not necessarily that they have intentionally planned to make your life miserable, but it is a vibrational frequency that empaths emit and it is out there. And you are on their ‘Playlist’.
So, there you are like a ‘Beacon in the Night’ to some. Yes, their frequency has reached you and you are receiving their message. You answer the call. Crazy? Not so much. It can be a rewarding experience for the receiver but a living ‘Hell’ for the empath. Every situation is different.
Myself, I have struggled with this most of my life. It was not until after my mother’s death did I realize what was happening and how to protect myself. I took classes, read research, watched videos and used deep meditation. I became informed but did I find a means of escape from being physically and mentally drained from these types of people?
I can honestly say it has been a wild ride. I’ve recently had to disconnect with a long-time friend whom I had been working with in a business sense for a few years now. I did not know in the beginning what I was getting into but had some reservations. Some might say I should have stopped right there. I felt a sense of helping which was rewarding in an odd way. My guard was not down, but I was aware, which in itself is an important level of understanding for all empaths.
As I reflect upon my years dealing with some great people and those who took my time and energy I don’t regret it. I have learned higher methods of grounding and am using them. Will I be able to detect a needy soul in my future? I think so. I’m better versed in protection methods. Will I be there to help? Most likely, unless I am picking up a strong vibe that makes me feel uncomfortable. Knowledge is power.
